Tenuta Frescobaldi 2023 Vermentino Massovivo Ammiraglia

Tenuta Frescobaldi 2023 Vermentino Massovivo Ammiraglia

A bracingly fresh, mineral‑driven Vermentino from the Maremma coast that strikes a beautiful balance between vibrant citrus, herbal nuance, and saline sophistication—delicious now yet versatile for food pairings or sipping in the sun.

🌿 Origins & Terroir

  • Produced at Tenuta Ammiraglia in Tuscan Maremma, where Vermentino vines thrive on sunlit slopes reaching the Tyrrhenian Sea; the terroir features the region’s trademark ā€œmassive yellow boulders,ā€ giving the wine its name, Massovivo (ā€œliving stoneā€)Ā

  • Crafted from 100% Vermentino, hand‑harvested late September. Fermented and aged on fine lees in stainless steel (4 months), then bottled after one monthĀ

šŸ‘ƒ Aromatics

  • Bright floral top notes: jasmine, hawthorn, and broom.

  • At its core are crisp citrus fruits: bergamot, lime, yellow pear, and hints of honey and almond, with Mediterranean herb whispers—sage, thyme, rosemary—and evocative iodine/marine breezesĀ

šŸ‘„ Taste Profile

  • Texture: Medium-bodied, round, yet lithe—thanks to lees aging and cooling maritime influenceĀ

  • Palette: Crisp citrus (lemon, lime), white peach, and pear, bolstered by savory marine salinity, herbal complexity, and a persistent mineralityĀ

  • Finish: Long, fresh, and savory, with minerality and a citrus‑herb echo lingering on the palate .

šŸ½ Food Pairings & Serving

  • Serve chilled (8–10 °C) in a tulip or white‑wine glass.

  • Superb with seafood starters, shellfish, grilled fish, vegetable pasta, or lighter cheeses such as fresh goat or burrata

  • Also delightful as anĀ aperitif, especially in warm weatherĀ

āœ… Final Take

The 2023 Massovivo Ammiraglia is a stellar example of coastal Vermentino—bright, balanced, and mineral-rich, yet still generous with fruit and herbal complexity. Its crisp sea breeze signature, elegant freshness, and satisfying length make it an easy-drinking standout that also plays well at the table. A polished, food-friendly white wine with a sense of place.
